The thesis of Anima mundi is closely linked to the origins of Western philosophy. Throughout history, philosophers have developed several interesting interpretations around the idea of a single vital force that exercised as a fundamental principle of life.
Without wishing to expose any conclusion, this set of works that are shown here under the title of Anima mundi aims to be a praise to this continuous generating flow of the world that surrounds us and of which we are part. We could think of it as the soul that animates the Universe.
Life is a continuous and incessant creation that cannot be deliberately re-executed. Something similar is experienced by Ruth Cepedano in her creative process. His works are emerging, each in its unrepeatable moment, expressing unique forms that spring unconsciously and intuitively. That is why any attempt to repeat any of them is a task that is practically impossible but unnecessary by its very nature.
Ruth Cepedano trained in ceramics at the Escola Superior d’Art i Disseny Llotja in Barcelona. She has participated in several group exhibitions, also making individual exhibitions. She currently teaches ceramics in his studio-workshop Ànimans_espai ceràmic where she also develops his creative work, mainly linked to organic and abstract sculptural forms.
